First edition. An unusual Roycrofters printing and somewhat scarce, being Stanley Mock's detailing of the mysterious disappearance of William Morgan. Allegedly, Morgan was murdered by the Freemasons after he had written a book exposing the secrets of the organization. 8vo, [8], 152, [1]pp. Portrait frontis, decorated title, illustrated head and tail pieces and initials. Publisher's plain brown cloth stamped in gilt on front cover and spine. Some moisture staining to boards and very upper edge of front endpapers. Bookplate to front pastedown. Very good.

Mock tells the tale of Captain William Morgan who after revealing Masonic secrets, code, and ritual was apparently disappeared w/many theories as to where and how. Although, it apparently is fact, that after being detained for greatly trumped up charges, Morgan was released to two that were Masons, and Morgan was never seen again. A statue was later dedicated in Batavia to Captain Morgan. Mock proposes to examine both sides of the story and ascertain known facts.
