Essentially, tradition is a charismatic principle, passed on and perpetually transformed - while at the same t…ime transforming - the lives of the people living it. In this economy, the role of the spiritual father continues to be integral to the perpetuation and vitality of the Orthodox Christian faith. Fr. Stebbing is particularly taken with the Romanian model and has spent several years traveling the country, visiting its villages and monasteries, and meeting with its spiritual fathers along the way. He begins with an historical portrait of Romanian Orthodoxy, introducing us to its pagan precursor and drawing attention to interesting similarities between the two.
