Hardcover. Condition: Fine. First Thus. Mimeographed copy bound in full leather by the High Level Bindery, gilt-stamped on cover & spine. 235 printed pages, versos blank. Photos. Signed by Henry Stelfox. This fascinating account begins with the author's years with the South African Constabulary 1903 - 06. He reports his observations of the Boers, Zulus, etc. He moves on to Alberta, Canada, where he logged, ranched, homesteaded & became a businessman, beginning in Calgary, & on to the Banff area, Rocky Mountain House, & other communities. Much on early history of Alberta Indians, ranching, fur trade, animals (Skunk for Dinner, Saddling a Grizzly Bear, etc.) & nature. Vignettes about Ogopogi, frontier characters, & sleeping with a corpse. Stelfox was a friend of the Indians & much is written of that. He was a strong conservationist instrumental in the founding of the Alberta Fish & Game Assoc. He speaks freely of his Christian faith. A well written memoir of early days in Alberta. Fine, & we suspect not very many copies were mimeographed & bound. Very scarce; likely rare. Signed by Author(s).
