A very smart first edition copy of this volume chronicling the literature of the Lewis and Clark expedition. This extensively detailed and thoroughly illustrated work puts into place all the significant literature that has been written about the expedition that 'determined a nation's destiny'. Taking place between 1804 and 1806, the expedition was comissioned by Thomas Jefferson and was central to the evolution of the United States as it is today. This volume is based on the collection of exhibition materials based at The Lewis and Clark Museum in Portland, Oregon and is the first of its kind published in one hundred years.
