Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP, includes separate Erratum sheet. In English and French. This publication was produced to accompany Stephen Talasnik's solo exhibition, Panorama: Intimate Monolith at Battat Contemporary, Montréal, from September 7-- October 23, 20…10. Beautiful, stylish book. As you can see, the covers are very clean and in top-notch condition, no issues that need to be called out. The page edges are perfectly clean. The book is square and very solidly bound from cover to cover. This is no run-of-the-mill book. After the Introduction and Foreword in French you have a section of 8 fold-out black and white works. That's followed by two essays in French, and then there's a 16 page section of sculptures in color (4 are double-page). Then there's a six page section of drawings in black and white. And then there is another section of 7 fold-out black and white works. The book concludes with the Introduction, Foreword, and Essays in English, a two-page Bibliography, and an Acknowledgments page. The interior of the book is in very good condition. The pages are exceptionally clean. I didn't see any soiling at all. Two or three of the fold-outs have a small crease at their top corner, quite minor. There are no other creases. There are no markings. There are no attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket, the half-dust jacket, in the photos provided. It wraps around the inside covers. It's in very good shape with just a couple of speck-size scuffs on its top edge. 'In recent years, Mr. Talasnik's work has been added to the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, the Pompidou (Paris), and the Whitney Museum of American Art (NY).'.

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. Stephen Talasnik's intricate and mesmerizing work bridges the disciplines of art and architecture in this debut monograph.A polymath whose work encompasses sculpture, drawing, and architectural land art, Stephen Talasnik manifests an elaborate and evocative aesthetic vision. Inspired by visi…onary artists and architects such as Leonardo da Vinci, Giovanni Piranesi, Gustav Eiffel, Antoni Gaudi, and Buckminster Fuller, Talasnik presents a fantastical world that looks as archaeological as it does futuristic.Unearthed presents a broad spectrum of Talasnik's work spanning the last decade, starting with floating sculptures commissioned by the Denver Botanic Garden, continuing on through projects at Storm King Art Center and Russel Wright Design Center, and culminating with a 30-foot-high timber sculpture at the new, highly lauded Tippet Rise Art Center in Montana. The publication of Unearthed coincides with the first exhibition at Tippet Rise devoted to a single artist. Numerous examples of Talasnik's drawings are also included, as well as smaller-scale indoor and outdoor sculptures in diverse materials.Several key contributors help interpret diverse angles of Talasnik's practice, including renowned art critic Phyllis Tuchman, architect and critic Michael Sorkin, theorist David Wittenberg, and the late architect Lebbeus Woods, a close friend to Talasnik. Through these essays and hundreds of reproductions of Talasnik's spellbinding work, Unearthed presents the extraordinary visions of an artist on the cusp of broad recognition. Stephen Talasnik's intricate and mesmerizing work bridges the disciplines of art and architecture in this debut monograph Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
