Photographs by Martin Parr. Poems by Fergus Allen, Kate Clanchy, Philip Gross, Sophie Hannah, Geoffrey Hoare, Roger McGough, Alice Oswald and Vicki Raymond. The book was launched with the first ever commercial gallery exhibiton of Parr's photographs in London, at Rocket Gallery in summer 1997. Fine (slight bump to upper slipcase corner). From the publisher: "Photographs of the then 'down-at-heel' seaside resort of West Bay near Bridport in Dorset photographed on the Bank Holiday weekend of August 1996. Add to basket45 x 35cm clamshell box containing the hardcover folder housing the original photograph and bi-fold prospectus, and the special edition of West Bay, unpaginated with tipped-in colour prints, 56pp. This is the rare special edition. Published in July 1997 in an edition of 250 copies of which numbers 1 to 25 were accompanied by an original signed photograph (of which this is number 4 of 25, signed on the photograph's verso by Parr). The book is likewise signed and numbered on rear colophon by Martin Parr. "The design of the book, typesetting in Sabon and Optima medium, and production supervision, is by Jonathan Stephenson at the Rocket Press. (.) To coincide with publication of this book a selection of the photographs were exhibited at Rocket Gallery (.) from July to September 1997". Outer clamshell box is slightly worn with some shelfwear. Contains poems by Philip Gross, Ferguson Allen, Kate Clanchy, Roger McGough, Alice Oswald, Sophie Hannah, Vicki Raymond, and Geoffrey Hoare. Internally very good condition.
