An armored fighting vehicle (AFV) is an armed combat vehicle protected by armour, generally combining operational mobility with offensive and defensive capabilities. AFVs can be wheeled or tracked. Armoured fighting vehicles are classified according to their intended role on the battlefield and characteristics.
