Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good Minus. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition (with Number Line to 1). On the title page there is an inscription ( 'Frank, Merry Christmas! Steve + Val, December 2001 (P. S. Don't Let Marty steal this'). It seems a fair assumption that the 'Steve' is Steve Coz who wrote the Introduction, and the 'Val' Valerie Virga who co-edited the Photography (take a look at the photo). I wasn't able to find even one other signed copy of this book for sale anywhere on the Internet. As you can see from the photos, the yellow covers are perfectly clean. The corners and edges are in excellent shape. There is a bump/crease off the top edge of the spine along with a little creasing to the right of that on the front side of the spine. There's also a small nick a ways down the spine. All three page edges are very clean the book is square and, despite its size, very solidly bound. The interior of the book is in excellent shape. I turned over all the pages and didn't see any soiling at all. There are no creases or dogeared corners. No markings. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. The only imperfection I found is quite minor, a little creasing off the top edge of the rear inside cover. You can see the jacket in the first few photos. It is very clean. Note that the photos are not very good. I couldn't seem to avoid the glare, that is what you're seeing on the front and rear. It's also lighting up small creases, like at the top corner of the front corner. Finally, it's distorting the color. The cover color is bright red. The color is uniform throughout without any fading or variation. There are two small tears off the bottom edge of the rear cover. There's a bump/crease off the top edge of the spine. There are a few small creases here and there. The flaps are in very solid shape, very clean, one small crease off the top edge of the rear flap. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. Photography edited by Charles Melcher and Valerie Virga (illustrator). Signed by Author(s).…

The last three pages are folded and creased. On February 1, 2003, Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon reentering Earth's atmosphere over Texas and Louisiana, just 16 minutes before its scheduled landing. All seven astronauts on board were killed. The disaster was caused by a breach on the left wing's leading edge that occurred during launch. This special edition magazine-style publication chronicles the Columbia space shuttle disaster, including profiles of the astronauts who died onboard. Includes a section on the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster in January 1986. The front cover has a footer that states "A portion of the proceeds from this Commemorative Edition will be donated to the Astronaut's families." A360 Media, LLC (a360media), formerly American Media, Inc. (AMI), was an American magazine publisher. Originally formed in 1988, it primarily owned entertainment, lifestyle, and tabloid magazines. It was originally formed as the parent company of the National Enquirer following the death of its previous owner Generoso Pope Jr. AMI's holdings expanded considerably in the 1990s and 2000s, with the company acquiring other supermarket tabloids such as Globe, the National Examiner, and Star, as well as other magazines such as In Touch Weekly, Men's Journal, Soap Opera Digest, Us Weekly, and Woman's World among others. In 2020, AMI merged with Chatham Asset Management-owned wholesale company Accelerate 360, and was renamed a360media. On February 1, 2003, Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated as it re-entered the atmosphere over Texas and Louisiana, killing all seven astronauts on board. It was the second of two Space Shuttle missions to end in disaster, after the loss of Challenger and crew in 1986. The mission, designated STS-107, was the twenty-eighth flight for the orbiter and the 113th flight of the Space Shuttle fleet. It was dedicated to research in various fields, mainly on board the SpaceHab module inside the shuttle's payload bay. During launch, a piece of the insulating foam broke off from the Space Shuttle external tank and struck the thermal protection system tiles on the orbiter's left wing. Similar foam shedding had occurred during previous Space Shuttle launches, causing damage that ranged from minor to near-catastrophic, but some engineers suspected that the damage to Columbia was more serious. When Columbia re-entered the atmosphere of Earth, the damage allowed hot atmospheric gases to penetrate the heat shield and destroy the internal wing structure, which caused the orbiter to become unstable and break apart. After the disaster, Space Shuttle flight operations were suspended for more than two years, as they had been after the Challenger disaster. Construction of the International Space Station (ISS) was paused until flights resumed in July 2005 with STS-114. NASA made several technical and organizational changes to subsequent missions, including the addition of an on-orbit inspection to determine how well the orbiter's thermal protection system (TPS) had endured the ascent, and continual readiness of designated rescue missions in case irreparable damage was found. Except for one mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope, subsequent Space Shuttle missions were flown only to the ISS to allow the crew to use it as a haven if damage to the orbiter prevented safe re-entry. The remaining three orbiters were retired after the building of the ISS was completed.…
