Pages unmarked; light staining in the lower gutter of a few leaves. Pictorial dust jacket is a short, strip-style jacket that does not extend the full height of the boards; front panel reproduces Grace Hudson's flute-player painting; a 3/4 inch tear to the paper over the top edge of the front cover has been repaired with clear tape, with a matching repaired tear at the back; mild overall scuffing, soiling, and shelf wear to the jacket. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover.A collection of original poems by Lois Prante Stevens and Jewell Malm Newburn, each paired with a reproduction of a painting or sketch by Grace Carpenter Hudson (1865-1937), the Ukiah, California artist nationally known for her numbered series of more than 684 portraits documenting the Pomo people of Mendocino County.
