No que se refere às obras publicadas deste autor, Stooter escreveu também a Arte de brilhantes vernizes, & das tinturas. igualmente editada em português, e publicada em Antuérpia, em 1729. Untrimmed copy with a professional and skilfully restoration of paper and texto area (on the engraving between pages 68/69, which is large) skilfully drawn by hand, inserting and reconstituting three quarters of the engraving, which shows ballistics schemes. This bibliographic specimen has a rich intaglio engraved frontispiece with the title and author in the centre, surmounted by the Portuguese royal coat of arms and framed by several hunting animals and various venomous weapons. The frontispiece and the other engravings that illustrate the work have the following captions at the bottom: "Joañ Stooter inv." and "Petrus B. Bouttats, fec.". According to research, this bibliographic specimen was not included in any catalogues of auctions held throughout the 20th century." This is a manual of rifle making, consisting of 29 chapters, and illustrated with the tools, the machinery, and all the measurements in to order to produce a weapon. JOHN STOOTER. Little is known about him, but it is assumed that he was born in Antwerp between the 17th and 18th centuries. He was a diamond cutter and, for twenty-six years, a businessman in Lisbon, where he certainly learnt Portuguese. As far as the author's published works are concerned, Stooter also wrote the Arte de brilhantes vernizes, & das tinturas. also edited in Portuguese, and published in Antwerp in 1729.
