Beckmann erwähnt sie am 13. 11. 1946 in seinem Tagebuch anläßlich ihrer Ausstellung in der New Yorker Buchholz Gallery. Sie lebt heute in einem kleinen Ort in der Nähe von Hamburg. Mit "Das Auto Bogomil" (1999) knüpfte Ursula Kirchberg an ihr erstes eigenes Bilderbuch, "Dagobert" (1970), an. Theodor Storm (1817-1888) zählt noch heute zu den beliebtesten Dichtern aus dem 19. Jahrhundert. Er schreibt von der grauen Stadt am Meer - seiner Heimatstadt Husum -, von ihren Patriziern, ihren "kleinen Leuten" und deren Ränken und Nöten, er schreibt Familiengeschichten, er schreibt zarte Geschichten von beginnender Liebe und Geschichten von lebenslanger herzlicher Gemeinschaft. Anders als viele seiner Zeitgenossen ist Storm kein volkstümelnder Neo-Romantiker, sondern steht ganz in der Realität des Zusammenpralls der alten mit der neuen Zeit.
