    Decorative Cloth. Condition: Good. Fifth Edition. Gilt, decorative stamped red cloth hardcovers. Professionally rebacked, with original spine fragments laid down (nearly all present -- loss to head and tail only), and corners repaired. Some slight soiling to covers, and darkening to spine. Original yellow endpapers, neatly repaired at hinge. Owner's name "James S. Nixon / Hamilton" possibly dockside entrepreneur and wharf owner in Hamilton Ontario at the time. All edges uncut. No half-title (paginates from title-page). Leaves slightly age-toned toward edges. Otherwise a clean, tight, reasonably bright, and unmarked copy. Rare. xvi,774+1[printer's mark]+1[blank]p.

Red cloth covers with gilt designs on front and back, and gilt lettering on spine. Spine is torn on both sides down from the top, torn across middle and bottom, and torn along front edge at bottom. Corners of covers are bumped, worn and frayed, and are becoming separated. Front and rear inner hinges are partially split. Inside front cover has an erasure in upper corner, front endpaper has some writing and a stamp at top, and inside back cover has some writing at top. Deckled page edges. Some of foldout plates have creased and torn side edges. Top edges and some side edges of pages are uncut. Pages have some tanning. Book is in acceptable condition. 608 pages, 3.3 lb.; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 608 pages.
