No Binding. Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Original stereocard on beige board. Two black and white (sepia) photographs. Board measures 7" x 3 1/2"; photograph measures 6 1/8" x 3 1/8." Stereocard is clean and intact with minimal age wear. On the left side of the board, the following text is printed: "Underwood & Underwood Pub…lishers. New York. London. Toronto-Canada. Ottawa-Kansas." On the right side of the board, the following is printed: "Works and Studios. ['Sun Sculpture Trade Mark' with accompanying trademark decoration.] Arlington, NJ. Littleton, NH. Washington, D.C." Sun Sculpture Works and Studios was an imprint of Underwood & Underwood. Title is printed below the right image as well as "Copyright 1899 by Strohmeyer & Wyman." The photograph shows a ship passing by Morro Castle in Havana, Cuba. The famous fortress of Havana Harbor is shown roughly center with the ship beginning to leave the left side of the frame. Henry A. Strohmeyer (1858-1943) was a photographer and co-founded, along with Nehemiah Wyman (1861-1934), the stereoview publishing house, Strohmeyer & Wyman. Strohmeyer took most of the photographs for the company although Wyman is credited for taking some of the company's earlier photographs of Philadelphia. In 1901, Strohmeyer & Wyman's catalog of photographs was acquired by Underwood & Underwood after the company was bought out by the latter. Strohmeyer & Wyman would remain a publisher, but Underwood & Underwood was in charge of distributing the stereoviews. Underwood & Underwood was a leading producer and distributor of stereoviews in its time and was founded in 1881 by brothers Elmer Underwood (1859-1947) and Bert Elias Underwood (1862-1943). The company remained in business until the 1940s.

"Sold only by Underwood & Underwood, New York, Liverpool, Toronoto-Canada, Ottawa-Kansas." is printed on the right side of the board. Strohmeyer & Wyman was a stereoview company co-founded by Henry Strohmeyer. Strohmeyer took most of the company's pictures when it was first established. Underwood & Underwood was a publisher and distributor of stereoviews and operated from 1881-1940s. Bert Underwood (1862-1943) was one of Underwood & Underwood's founders.
