This stereocard shows a scenic, perspective view of Rue de Rivoli in Paris, France. Light and shadows from trees and foliage dot the street. People are shown riding in horse-drawn carriages. Rue de Rivoli is a street in central Paris. It is currently a shopping street with many fashion stores. It is named after a battle Napoleon won against the Austrian Army in 1797, the Battle of Rivoli.

Bert Underwood (1862-1943) was an American photographer and one half of the stereocard and photography company, Underwood & Underwood, which he co-founded with his brother, Elmer Underwood (1859-1947), in 1881. Underwood & Underwood specialized in distributing and producing photographic materials and was among the most prolific distributors and producers of its kind. By 1910. Underwood & Underwood began to focus more on news photography and captured some of the earliest aerial photos. In 1920, the company stopped producing stereocards and sold its stereographic materials and rights to the Keystone View Company. Underwood & Underwood enjoyed many more years as a photograph distributor until the 1940s.
