Scarce…, her second novel - a 'drama of human character', with the inter-generational vendettas that drive the narrative played out against the setting of a 'great provincial emporium' (blurb). The author was educated at St. Anne's College, Oxford; the greater part of her writing career was as a playwright, including as a scriptwriter for the BBC - her 'break-out' novel came with the Haiti-set 'Marassa and Midnight' in 1968.
