Cloth. Condition: Very Good Indeed. None (illustrator). A collection of intimate correspondence between the famous courtier and the radical French reformer. Philip Sidney is most famous as an Elizabethan courtier and diplomat; as well as a poet and a soldier. Here we have his personal correspondence with French reformer Hubert Languet (a Protestant, and early proponent of religious and civil liberties) collected and translated from latin for the first time. Includes notes and a brief biography. Bound in cloth. Very smart with some shelfwear only. Bumping to corners of boards. Internally, firmly bound. Engraved frontispiece. Generally clean with just some spots to first and last few pages as usual. Very Good Indeed. book.
