Theophil Studer, "am 27.November 1845 in Bern geboren, wandte sich nach Absolvierung seines medizinischen Studiums der Zoologie und vergleichenden Anatomie zu, welche Fächer er später an der Universität Bern als Professor und Direktor der Zoologischen Sammlung des Naturhistorischen Museums vertrat. Von seinen Arbeiten zur Zoologie, physischen Antropologie, Ethnologie und Prähistorie ist besonders zu nennen "Crania helevetica antiqua" (mit E. Bannwarth). Studer starb am 12. Februar 1922."
