Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Not books but two 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm, "Stereo Fidelity" vinyl record albums: Scheherajazz, Somerset SF-9700, from 1959, offers near-mint vinyl in a very-good-plus cardboard jacket. Our second LP, "Swingin' With Prince Igor," from 1960, which offers one side adapted from Borodin's Polovtsian Dances from the Prince Igor Suite and the second side adapted from Wagner's "beautifully morose Overture to Tannhauser," Somerset SF-16000, offers very-good-plus vinyl (no problems, just some track wear) in a near mint cardboard jacket. The 28-piece All-Star Jazz Band features Pete Condoli, trumpet, Gus Bivona, sax, Paul Horn on flute and reeds, Vince De Rosa, french horn, etc., under concertmeister Jacques Gasselin. Lloyd Vernon "Skip" Martin (1916-1976) played sax with Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman, first arranged for Count Basie. He was the sole credited orchestrator for Judy Garland's comeback vehicle "A Star Is Born" (1954), which contains many arrangements by him of Harold Arlen and Ira Gershwin ballads, principally "The Man that Got Away" and "It's a New World." Although both these LPs have been opened, "Swingin' with Prince Igor" retains its original shrink-wrap. The pair now reduced from $22. Hard Back. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 79 Pages plus Epilogue that contains illustrated photos of Abba, Bee Gees, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Linda Ronstadt, Donna Summer, Fleetwood Mac, Cheap Trick, Bruce Springteen, Rod Stewart, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Eagles, and Devo. Colorfully illustrated covers. One corner lightly bumped. A minor indication of edge and corner wear. Dust jacket has edge wear and chipping. A 1-1/2 inch tear top front and a 1 inch tear on top back of dust jacket. A beautifully illustrated book that capotures alll the vibrancy of Rock's greates legends. From Elvis' hip-swinging gyrations to the fever-pitched sound of the Bee Gees this book illuminates the changes in socity and music as they reflected off of one another. It allows us an in-depth look into the private lives of those who rose to the top of the music profession and received the idolation of their fans. An extraordinary blend of stimulating text and scintillating photogrpahs, the story of Rock n Roll is told. A riveting 16 page, full-color insert is dedicated to those who continue to dominate the music scene. It was the talents of such performers as Chuck Berry, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix that pioneered new avenues of Rock music and paved the way for newcomers like Elvis Costello, Donna Summer, and Abba. Rock n Roll is an enigma. Its beat is an elusive, untouchable strand that reaches to the soul's core and captures the intensity of a moment. The most amazing thing about Rock n Roll is that the more it changes, the more it stays the same. Succeeds in balancing nostalgia with reality. It is a tribute to the music of our times and urges us to Rock On! Illustrated with black and white photographs and color photographs on almost every page. Some are full page photos.
