1 The book was bilingually composed during my stay in England when I was in England It is an epic poem in about 8000 lines of verse Its lyrical emphasis on Lord Buddhas socio-moral code in preference to the metaphysical aspects of philosophy was highlighted by many as a "work of great originality "and both East and West looked f…orward to its transliteration into as many languages as possible I had to wait till last July when a "Buddha-in-me-and-I-in-Buddha" feeling caused mounting pressure within me and I consequently undertook its rendering in English verse Since English is in effect a "central language" of the world I aimed first to take it to the English-speaking world so as to create a base for other languages to use it and also to ensure its spread universally This was undertaken with a special emphasis on a Japanese and Chinese version since both the countries at present is perhaps the only countries most certainly taking total care of Buddhist philosophy and religion I gather that Japan has about a dozen government and private universities and a large number of schools as seats of learning in Buddhist studies so has China 2 The English version contains 208 "Orations of Buddha" designed to address the world anew The poems are integrated ones arranged in the form of a Trilogy ie it has three groups of poems complete in themselves but with a common theme and these are in the following order I Manifest Buddha 4 chapters each in three sections each of which again has about 10-12 poems which have well-conceived titles totalling 140 poem-orationsII Resolve of Buddha 42 poems in 4 sections each with 10-11 poems III In Admiration of Earth 26 poems in 3 sections each with 9-10 poems 3 Each poem is based on a different facet of Buddhist teaching and when these are read singly or in groups a true Buddha-Mind emerges There are authentic annotations wherever necessary to explain the standpoints of Buddhist philosophy of the poems; these appear as foot-notes to facilitate simultaneous reading of both the literature and the philosophy These two disciplines may be likened respectively to free oxygen in air and conserved oxygen in cylinders to come to the aid of humanity in health and harness 4 With great pleasure I extend my co-operation to any individual and institution who may render the work of translation of book in any other language I thank my Publisher Syed Mansoor who has given unstinting support in the making of the two versions of this book and is readily awaiting for the aforesaid proposal There is a wide potential for illustrations in Buddhist Art since these poems are feature-based for the literature which seeks to encompass the history the philosophy and the religion of Buddhism To be good too good to darkness and Time seemingly fine -they raise regiments to suffer and make faces to see light upper along with rays the real hindrance to the illusive which it Light flays 688.

A glance at the schematic genesis of this book P I II evokes a sensitive praise of God which when sung become music Compliments thus fall due It is natural to feel seized My being not too well up on Him did not come in the way since the forward move is by measure of the soul that brings the goal nearer when I realised that God i…s much more immense than I thought Why not risk the traditional belief that there is no real relief from the ever elusive ratio of His knowability when in view is curiously other than all the varieties of the known ones in forms and figures while His unknowability calls upon all His seekers to hazard their guess to rue the utter lack of clue to be anywhere near Him because He is increasingly far above it and away However sweet and or sour the endeavour is the seekers remain raw to spot the subtle subtlety of His paw mark to harp on with contemplation to rise above human understanding a mystics job Knowing as I do my own image penned in the penultimate para p II of this book I worked out my missionary resolve Well Done O Lord to be near and dear to Him not without facing my self searching scanner When Plotinus a neoplatonic said we know Him by what He is not that echoes the assertions of the Upanishads I tilted a bit to treat Him in a homely way notwithstanding His eternal pledge to add to His unknowability I was laying my hands for a handy inventory of His knowbaility This book is the third of the trilogy on God the preceding ones are the Biography of Good Part I and II and living with God Dr Subhash Sarkar was born in East Bengal now Bangladesh on October 12 1928 the son of Suresh Ch Sarker and Surobala Sarker both now deceased After arriving in Calcutta during the most critical period of the Second World War he was hit by the partition of India and labelled a refugee yet he continued his schooling and college career from below the poverty line He received his Master of Surgery from Calcutta University and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons London and Edinburgh earning a Gold Medal in Anatomy Silver Medal in Surgery and Certificates of Honours in Physiology for his work After service as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army Medical CorpsDr Sarker was awarded a Distinguished Service Vishist Seva Medal by the President of the Republic of India for his role as Head of the Surgical Team in the Indo Pak War in 1965 Most recently a Consultant Urologist and Surgeon in Calcutta based hospitals and institutions Dr Sarker has in the past been employed as a surgeon in hospitals in the United Kingdom Aside from his brilliant career in medicine Dr Sarker has been devoted to creative literary work all his life with nomination for the Nobel Prize in Literature In his writing he strives to restore to literature and philosophy the high command over the individual society and State and strike harmony and balance between duty and beauty A prolific writer he has been described as having a unique devotion and deep thinking Each stanza gives the much covetable joy of lasting nectar his poems make bold statements to encompass time society and culture He is a true creator of poems and composer of songs.
