Lo scritto di Faustino Summo critica inoltre la pastorale del Guarini anche per i suoi contenuti "dishonesti", laddove "introduce un gioco di baci, e di lingue, tra alcune Ninfe", la cui rappresentazione trarrebbe in scena "malcostume", mettendo in bocca alle Ninfe sulla scena parole "sozze e indiscrete". Come si può dedurre da questi e altri libri, la polemica contro il Pastor Fido stava diventando quasi un genere letterario, ed il Guarini un comodo bersaglio.
