Believe it or not, when she touches a red carving on an ancient tree, her world opens up! She meets a sparrow in the Green Land of Spring, a frog in the Magical Garden of Summer, a cat in the Golden Field of Autumn, and a boy in the Witch's Forest of Winter. Her adventure is exciting, but more than that, her heart is filled with hope, love, joy, and faith! *Editor's Comment* "It's an imaginative and entertaining story, and there are some lovely images in the narrative!" *Editor's Comment* "All characters are distinct in their personalities and speech patterns----nicely done! Emily is a pleasant and clever girl and someone we enjoy spending time with. " *Reader's Comment* "Really like the whimsical feel, the message(s), and the progression of the story. The overall structure has a healthy dose of urgency that kept things rolling and kept me wondering what would happen next. Nicely done." Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. This volume contains the papers selected for presentation at The 2010 Int- national Conference on Brain Informatics (BI 2010) held at York University, Toronto, Canada, during August 28-30, 2010. It was organized by the Web - telligenceConsortium(WIC),theIEEEComputationalIntelligenceSociet yTask Force on Brain Informatics (IEEE-CIS TF-BI), and York University. The c- ference washeld jointly with the 2010InternationalConference on Active Media Technology (AMT 2010). Brain informatics (BI) hasemergedasaninterdisciplinaryresearch?eld that focuses on studying the mechanisms underlying the human information proce- ing system (HIPS). It investigates the essential functions of the brain, ranging from perception to thinking, and encompassing such areas as multi-perception, attention, memory, language, computation, heuristic search, reasoning, pl- ning, decision-making, problem-solving, learning, discovery, and creativity. The goal of BI is to develop and demonstrate a systematic approach to achieving an integrated understanding of both macroscopic and microscopic-level working principles of the brain, by means of experimental, computational, and cognitive neuroscience studies, as well as utilizing advanced Web intelligence (WI)-centric information technologies. BI represents a potentially revolutionary shift in the way that research is undertaken. It attempts to capture new forms of colla- rative and interdisciplinary work. In this vision, new kinds of BI methods and global research communities will emerge, through infrastructure on the wisdom Web and knowledge grids that enable high-speed and distributed, large-scale analysis and computations, and radically new ways of sharing data/knowledge. TheBrainInformaticsConferencesstartedwiththeFirstWICIInternational Workshop on Web Intelligence meets Brain Informatics (WImBI 2006), held at Beijing,China,December15-16,2006. Constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Conference on Brain Informatics, BI 2010, held in Toronto, China, in August 2010. This book features the papers that are organized in topical sections on cognitive computing; data brain and analysis; neuronal modeling and brain modeling; perception and information processing; and, more. Condition: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | With the increasing popularization of personal hand-held mobile devices, more people use them to establish network connectivity and to query and share data among themselves in the absence of network infrastructure, creating mobile social networks (MSNet). Since users are only intermittently connected to MSNets, user mobility should be exploited to bridge network partitions and forward data. Currently, data route/forward approaches for such intermittently connected networks are commonly "store-carry-and-forward" schemes, which exploit the physical user movements to carry data around the network and overcome path disconnection. And since the source and destination may be far away from each other, the delay for the destination to receive the data from the source may be long. MSNets can be viewed as one type of socially-aware delay tolerant networks (DTNs). Observed from social networks, the contact frequencies are probably different between two friends and two strangers, and this difference should be taken into consideration when designing data dissemination and query schemes in MSNets. In this book, the fundamental concepts of MSNets are introduced including the background, key features and potential applications of MSNets, while also presenting research topics, such as, MSNets as realistic social contact traces and user mobility models. Because the ultimate goal is to establish networks that allow mobile users to quickly and efficiently access interesting information, particular attention is paid to data dissemination and query schemes in subsequent sections. Combined with geography information, the concepts of community and centrality are employed from a social network perspective to propose several data dissemination and query schemes, and further use real social contact traces to evaluate their performance, demonstrating that such schemes achieve better performance when exploiting more social relationships between users.
