Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Signed and personalized by artist on title page. The binding of the book has separated from the page signatures affecting approx the first half of the book. The individual signatures are slightly loose, however no pages are torn, missing or significantly damaged. The book also has mild rubbing and surface scratching to both covers, loose hinges, a shaken spine, separation of the binding from the spine plate, and an overall gentle aging to the pages, otherwise the book is in fair condition with crisp, unmarked pages, a strong, clean cover, and vibrant, attractive images throughout. The dustjacket has rubbing and surface scratching to both covers, minor shelfwear to the edges and corners of the jacket, and light scuffing that has worn away small portions of the gilt decorative edging most notable on the back cover, otherwise the dustjacket is in good condition, intact and clean, and is now in an archival protective mylar.

Alvar, geboren am 1935 in Montgat, einem Fischerdorf in Katalonien, nahe Barcelona. Er malte bereits mit 12 Jahren Oelbilder und wurde 17jährig an der "Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Jorge aufgenommen. Mit 18 Jahren gewann er den Preis für Junge Künstler der Stadt Barcelona, und bis heute ist dieses Werk Alvars im Museum der modernen Kunst in Barcelona zu sehen. 1957 stellte er erstmals in der "Galleries Layetana" in Barcelona aus, 1960 zusammen mit Picasso, Miro und Dali in Paris. 1962 dann erstmals in New York. Danach konzentrierte er sich hauptsächlich auf seine lithographischen Arbeiten.

Mounted on board, Signed, dated and dedicated to the late artist Richard Humphries.Alvar Suñol Munoz-Ramos was born on January 29, 1935, in Montgat, a Catalan fishing village on the Mediterranean coast near Barcelona. He started painting oils at age twelve and at age seventeen was accepted at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Jorge, the prestigious fine art school in Barcelona. Before graduating from the Belles Artes, he gave his first solo exhibition at Galleries Layetana in Barcelona in 1957. Alvar also won the Bolsa de Viaje Alhambra de Granada, a summer scholarship study trip to Granada. At age 18, Alvar entered a painting in a competition for the Young Painters Prize sponsored by the City of Barcelona. His painting won the grand prize and it is now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, Barcelona, Spain.
