The Mississippian system, a geological period that took place between 358.9 and 323.2 million years ago, is explored here through both a historical and modern lens, revealing its stratigraphy, paleontology, sedimentation, and structure. It also meticulously lists petroleum-bearing beds of the Mississippian system in Illinois, Indiana, western Kentucky, eastern Missouri, and southeastern Iowa, drawing on the collective efforts of more than twenty-five geologists and their assistants who worked meticulously under the guidance of various state geological surveys. The book combines both reconnaissance studies and detailed investigations to deliver a comprehensive study of the Mississippian system in a way that's both informative and accessible for geology enthusiasts and professionals alike. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
