Catalog for the exhibition at the Kestner-Gesellschaft, Hannover, from September 19th to November 2nd, 1986. The photographic work generated at the Bauhaus, is an authentic mirror, possibly the only one, of the cultural venture known as the Bauhaus. Just what was found during the past years, published and exhibited shows the captivating effect of the Bauhaus. This exhibition catalog, with contributions by Suzanne E. Pastor and Gerhard Glüher, provides an excellent overview of the extent and depth, innovative force and influence, the Bauhaus had on the "emancipation" of the medium photography. Profusely illustrated with full page b/w photographs of Gertrude Arndt, Ellen Auerbach, Theo Ballmer, Herbert Bayer, Irene Bayer-Hecht, Katt Both, Erich Consemüller, Andreas Feininger, T. Lux Feininger, Heinz Löw, Hannes Meyer, Lucia Moholy, Lázló Moholy-Nagy and others. Contains bibliography, list of works exhibited, and fourteen pages of advertisements in b.w and color at rear.
