Ideals he shared with the dedicatee of the work, Carl Warmuth, who took over his father's music store in 1874 and who flourished as an agent and champion of music in the composers home town of Christiania.-Diese zwei kurzen Stücke für Streichorchester, die auf isländischen Volksweisen basieren, zählen zu den schönsten Beispielen für Svendsens Beschäftigung mit dem Thema der nationalen Identität in der Musik und sind ein Beweis für die philanthropischen Ideale des Komponisten.
