Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. Swanson, Jenny (book design) (illustrator). 1st Edition. As new condition dark gray boards, black spine and silver spine lettering contained in an as new condition color illustrated dust jacket. Includes Acknowledgments; Introduction: Our Moment of Truth; A Final Word; Notes and About the Author. "Freedom, security, peace, opportunity.these are some of the characteristics of a society based on the absolutes. In recent years, however, absolute truth has come under fire. Subtly, but significantly, our thinking has shifted toward relativism - and the impact on our culture has been devastating. Is one idea really as good as another? Impossible, says James Robison. The reality of evil shows us that all ideas cannot be equally good. How can we find the best ideas to govern our society? Can we trust the majority? Do opinion polls lead us to the truth? Challenging one misconception after another, Robison exposes the fallacies of relativism, helping us to view the world in terms of absolute, timeless principles that have been the foundation of all stable societies." - from the rear outer jacket. "This is one of the finest books I have ever read. The themes, the research, the passion, and the Truth make it both timely and powerful. I wholeheartedly commend this work to anyone who seeks convincing answers in such uncertain times." - Ravi Zacharias, President, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. "What could we accomplish.if our leaders governed according to absolute principles instead of partisan politics? If we practiced love and compassion for the needy? What choices would we make, as individuals and nations, if we agreed that people matter most? If we saw families as the foundation of society? If we pursued servanthood as the key to success? How can we really secure enduring freedom? We now have a wndow of opportunity to re-energize our commitment to the absolute principles that will safeguard our freedom and peace for future generations." - from the inner front jacket flap.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine dj. Illustrated by (dj design) Dave Stevens & James L. Swanson (illustrator). First Edition. [beautiful, as-new copy, with no discernible wear to either book or dust jacket]. (B&W and color photographs) The official (which is not to say definitive) Life of Bettie, "the greatest pin-up of all time," and the only one, I believe, to have had the imprimatur of the lady herself. The authors, who describe their work as "part biography, part scrapbook and part history of a legend," describe how they tracked Miss Page to her home in the California desert (exact location unspecified) and broke through her initial reluctance to speak of her past. In the end they obtained not only a lengthy personal interview, but also persuaded her to write a Foreword to their book -- charmingly reproduced as written, two pages of neat schoolgirl-cursive writing, somehow a perfect complement to the innocence she always projected, despite the naughty milieu in which she gained her enduring fame. Whatever the book's strengths or weaknesses as biography, though, it's a gorgeous production, lavishly illustrated -- a must-have for any Bettie fan. ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this heavy book; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.****.
