A local bank in Olds, Alberta loaned $30.00 each to interested boys and girls to buy (1917) two registered sows. Feed the sows, sell one, pay back the loan. These were the roots of of the Pig Club started at the Olds School of Agriculture by W.J.Elliott. This grew into 4 - H and soon involved agricultural co-operators in Vermilion, Lacombe, Lethbridge, etc. 125 pages illus. by B/W photos. Cond: Green boards with white titling and the provincial emblem and 4-H logo. Light wear to bottom edges and ALL points. NO d.j. (as issued ??). Spine is fine, p/o name on ffep. `Compliments of . ' sticker on front end-paper. No marks internal, neither tears, nor folds. Tight and CLEAN. Quote (p. 29) : " . in each association having the highest aggregate score on the standing crop, on the threshed grain, and on judging proficiency, was taken to Calgary for two days at the time of the Provincial Seed Fair.
