No Binding. Condition: Very Good. "Camellia Japonica (var) Anemoniflora" - after Syndenham Teast Edwards (British 1768-1819). Hand colored engraving. Also known as "Anemone - Flowered" or "Warratah Camellia" "Sydm. Edwards Del." at lower left. Design is by the artist Syndenham Edward (British 1768-1819). F. Sansom Sc." at lower right. Engraved by F. Sansom. "Pub by S. Curtis Walworth July 1, 1814" below image. The publisher is Samuel Curtis British 1779-1860) a noted horticuluturalist Located in Walworth near London was the most noted firm specializing in florist's flowers. "#N1654" at upper right indicates it was this numbered print from Curtis's Botanical Magazine July 1814 issue. On the back is taped a lengthy text from the Curtis magazine giving considerable scientific information about the tree. Lists 12 varieties of Camellia Japonica. Sheet approx., sight 5" x 8". Matted and framed 9 3/4" x 13 1/2" overall. Very Good condition.
