Dargestellt ist das Gebiet von im Norden Medimurje bis an die Linie von Una und Save im Süden sowie von der Kulpa (Kupa), dem Zumberak-Gebirge und der Sutla im Westen bis nach Valpovo weit in Slawonien im Osten. Das Blatt 3 (recht oben) mit einer großen (ca. 45 cm x 63 cm) und gesuchten Ansicht von Zagreb. - "Joseph (Josip) Szeman lived in Zagreb where he worked as a county and episcopal surveyor, a surveyor of the Sava Navigation and president of Board of Judges from 1817 to 1844. He made a copperplate map of Zagreb diocese, called Mappa Diocesis Zagrabiensis, which was published in 1822 and 1825. The map, which was commissioned by bishop Maksimilijan Vrhovec, is Szeman`s greatest work and at the same time the most remarkable work in Croatian cartography at the beginning of the 19th century. Szeman chose Franjo Karac (Ferenc Karacs), one of the best copperplate engravers and cartographers in Hungary, to engrave the content and take care of graphic design of the map. Its content presents an extent of Zagreb diocese and its division into parishes with villages that belong to them. The map consists of nine sheets of variable size; the third sheet contains a large size view of Zagreb of the period. The last sheet contains two scales with measures in German or geographic miles and walking hours. The map contains a legend with explanations of 75 symbols used for various ecclesiastical and cultural facilities, for natural resources, and for the borders of counties, archdeaconries and districts, parishes and branches on the territory of the diocese; the second table contains a list of parishes and regiments, with a number of fortresses, towns, market towns and inhabitants by denomination and their areas in square kilometres."
