Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Herbert Pullinger (illustrator). Illustrated Edition. The Wissahickon, compiled by T. A. Daly. Published by The Garden Club of Philadelphia, 1922. Illustrated by Herbert Pullinger. Small hardcover, approximately 5" x 8", 81 pages. A charming and locally significant Philadelphia publication focused on the Wissahickon Valley, issued by the Garden Club of Philadelphia. The book serves as both a historical and natural guide, combining literary sketching with practical and ecological observation of the region. Contents include a historical sketch of the Wissahickon, descriptions of roads and walking routes, geological outlines, trees and wildflowers, mosses, bird life, and transportation references including railroad and trolley routes. The inclusion of Herbert Pullinger's drawings adds strong visual and artistic appeal; Pullinger was a noted Philadelphia illustrator and designer associated with early 20th-century printmaking and civic art. The binding is solid and the volume remains structurally intact. Exterior shows minor rubbing to the cloth on both cover and spine consistent with age and handling. Interior pages are clean with light foxing present. Former owner's name is inked on the front endpaper with a date of March 1927, later partially obscured with marker. Overall, a well-preserved and complete copy of a scarce regional Philadelphia garden club publication, combining natural history, civic documentation, and period illustration.
