Tanakadate, "Etude photographique du courant d'air produit par le mouvement d'une helice" (Photographic study of the air current produced by the movement of a propeller) in Comptes Rendus de l'Academie des Sciences. Paris, 1910, volume 151, 18 July, pp 211-213 of the full weekly issue extracted from a larger bound volume (of pp 177-264). The article focuses on the photographic study of airflow generated by a rotating propeller (hélice). It explores how the motion of the propeller creates various airflow patterns, which can be visualized through photography. I believe the study examines the dynamics of air movement and its implications for aerodynamics, contributing to the understanding of propulsion and flight mechanics. Such research is crucial for improving the design and efficiency of aircraft and other flying machines. This paper appeared first in the Physico-mathematical Society of Tokyo on 5 April 1910. Tanakadate Aikitsu was a Japanese physicist and aerodynamics researcher known for his contributions to the study of fluid dynamics and aviation. He is particularly recognized for his work on the airflow around propellers and wings, as well as for his pioneering use of photography to visualize airflow patterns. His research helped lay the groundwork for understanding aerodynamics in the early 20th century, influencing both scientific inquiry and practical applications in aviation. Tanakadate's work is significant in the context of Japan's early advancements in aeronautical science.…
