Newman?) & 9 other copperplates of horses (15.2 x 9.5mm.). Untrimmed copy in original gray paper covered boards; tan paper spine & label have completely flaked away, causing front cover to detach, gray endpapers, small repaired section to top of titlepage, small tear to its edge. Occasional age spots to some pages, minor creases to plate margins (plate 9+10). Otherwise, an unrestored copy of a small fragile technical book meant for the stable book & medicine shelf. The very detailed plates are generally clean. Veternary surgeon William Taplin (d. 1807) published Gentleman's Stable Directory in 1788 & other similar works. This work is supposed to be based on both Bracken & Taplin. Pre-1956 NUC shows only one library reporting a copy of this edition in the US. Rare item.
