This record was based upon the most stringent measure of the number of takeoffs and landings while flying extreme conditions. Frontier Airlines?not to be confused with the start-up company currently using the Frontier name?flew from 1946 into 1986. They flew safely and confidently from coast to coast, throughout Canada, and into Mexico. In her early history, crews hand flew the old DC-3s over the high Rocky Mountains in and out of black holes to small airports hidden in deep mountain valleys to achieve this remarkable and enviable record.
