Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 563 pp. with 75 B/W illustrations, including several plates with tissue guards and two fold-outs. Quarto. Half-leather-bound with raised bands and gilt top edge. Early owner's name on first blank page. Leather is red with gilt lettering and tooling. The book is in very good shape for its age, with wear confined largely to edges, corners, and spine ends. Slight wear at gutter between pages 339 and 342. Shallow curved 1.5" crease seems to run along upper gutter throughout last half of book. Tucked into the fifteenth chapter is the business card of 19th century Paris coin collector Charles de l'Ecluse. A gorgeous book inside and out. Oversized volume may require additional shipping.
