Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the abundance of zooplankton in Hawaiian waters and the factors that may influence their populations. The author, a respected fishery research biologist, conducted extensive sampling and analysis to gather data on zooplankton volume and composition. The book examines… the influence of environmental factors such as temperature, salinity, and currents on zooplankton populations, and discusses the potential impact of these findings on the local skipjack tuna fishery. The author's research provides valuable insights into the complex interplay between zooplankton and their environment, and contributes to our understanding of the marine ecosystem in this important fishing region. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the vertical distribution of zooplankton in the central equatorial Pacific, presenting data collected during a 1952 expedition. The author utilizes Clarke-Bumpus samplers to gather zooplankton samples at varying depths, providing valuable insights into the abundan…ce and composition of these organisms. This study not only contributes to our understanding of zooplankton distribution patterns but also sheds light on the potential food sources available to deep-swimming yellowfin tuna in the region. Through meticulous analysis, the author explores the diurnal variations in zooplankton abundance and examines the differences between zooplankton communities in the North and South Equatorial Currents. The book's findings offer valuable information for researchers studying marine ecosystems, particularly those interested in the intricate relationships between zooplankton and commercially important fish species like the yellowfin tuna.

This book investigates the standing crop of zooplankton, essential fish food, in the waters around the Hawaiian Islands during the period of the 1950s through 1952. The author, an oceanographer, takes into account the vertical and diurnal variation in zooplankton abundance and correlat…es the findings with the hydrographic conditions of the region. They find that the greatest amount of zooplankton occurred at the 50-meter level in both the day and the night collections. The author also finds a highly significant positive correlation between zooplankton abundance and inorganic phosphate concentrations in the water, suggesting that this may be a useful indicator of zooplankton abundance in the area. This book is an important historical record of the zooplankton abundance around the Hawaiian Islands and provides valuable insights into the relationship between hydrographic conditions and zooplankton populations.

This book delves into the methods and findings of the EASTROPIC Expedition, a collaborative oceanographic expedition conducted in the central and eastern tropical Pacific between 1955 and 1957. Scientists from several institutions joined forces to study the region's oceanographic condi…tions and their impact on the local ecosystem. Through a variety of techniques, including plankton sampling and temperature-depth profiling, the expedition gathered a vast amount of data. The book presents the results of these investigations, providing a detailed look at the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of the eastern tropical Pacific during this period. This comprehensive volume offers valuable information for scientists and researchers interested in oceanography, marine biology, and the history of scientific exploration. Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Lot of 36 titles from the Arno / New York Times Series The American Negro, His History and his literature. All told, the volumes are clean and well kept. From the home of a well regarded historian of Black studies. Also was a tobacco smoker, and that combined with age has led to occasional toning… / darkening of the tan cloth part of these hardcover volumes - though without any consistency, it is present to some degree on nearly all. Faint odor as well, especially for those of sensitive nose, though to this seller it is not egregious. Besides that, the condition is pretty solid on all. Binding are all quite strong, sturdy, tight , square. No markings were found in any of the books, and no other damage to interiors at all. One volume has some fraying to the edge of the cloth of the front, and some of the volumes have lesser or greater degrees of rubbing, scuffing, dustsoiling, but all told clean beyond the toning. Uncommon to find so many in one place. Shipping will be extra ! pickup available in NYC.
