Privately printed for the wife of Lieutenant Colonel Francis Abel Smith. Illustrated with a frontispiece, sixteen plates, and one folding table to the rear. Collated complete. A detailed and comprehensive history of Abel Collin's Charity, founded by Abel Collin, an English philanthropist. By his Will, published in 1704, twenty four alms houses were built in Nottingham. Now the oldest charity in Nottingham, it exists some three hundred years after its initial founding as The United Charities of Abel Collin. Written by Everard Leaver Guilford, an English local historian. With an introduction from Alexander Samuel Leslie Melville, and a concluding chapter is written by Thomas Gallimore. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Very Good. book.
