A Fine book in a Very Good dust jacket. An autobiographical essay in five parts by Thomas James Holmes (1874-1959), an American bibliographer, librarian, and bookbinder. Holmes became an expert on the Mather family and wrote six bibliographies about them. In this essay, Holmes recounts his early education and love for reading and learning, his personal experiences as a bibliographer and bookbinder, the Mather collection, and a variety of other subjects pertaining to his life, career, and the world of books. Parts are titled, "In the Bookbinderies," "In the Libraries," "The Sale of the Mather Collection: Completion & Publication of the Bibliographies; Press Notices & Recognition by Trinity," "Bruce Rogers & Horace Carr Imprints," and "Army Medical Library: Program of Restoration.".
