"Thomas-Paul-Philibert Le Duc, né à Bourg le 17 mars 1815, était le petit-fils de Thomas Riboud. Son père était fonctionnaire dans l'administration des eaux et forêts. Philibert, après de solides études classiques, commença des études de médecine, puis se résolut à embrasser la carrière paternelle : il fut sous-inspecteur des forêts à Verdun, à Bourg en 1848, inspecteur à Belley en 1859, puis à Annecy et à Lons-le-Saunier. Toute sa vie il conserva de solides attaches avec son département natal : il y séjournait fréquemment, et y vécut la dernière partie de son existence. Dès 1836 il est membre de la Société d'Emulation de l'Ain, et il devient secrétaire de cette société. Il fut l'un des membres fondateurs de la Société Littéraire, Historique et Archéologique de l'Ain en 1872. Il fut aussi membre de la Société Littéraire de Lyon, et membre de l'Académie de Lyon. Il mourut à Bourg en octobre 1884.".
