Hullmandel in 1824 this is a very rare original surviving example of this collection of six lithographic plates illustrating scenery at the Shropshire village of Nescliffe, housed in the original paper covers, a large elephant folio size measuring 17 inches by 13 inches approx., published in 1824 the six lithographs comprise a view of The Hill From the Road, A view of The Breidden Hills seen from the summit of Nescliffe Hill, A view in the wood at Nescliffe, with Three Rustic Buildings The Archery Ground at Nescliffe The Dinner Tents at the Archery Meeting which were seated about 250 persons Kynaston's Cave, formerly inhabited by the Celebrated Outlaw, Humphry Knyaston there is an inscription on the cover showing that a Richard Halton of Knockin gave the folio to a Edward Griffiths of Weston in 1895, the folder and plates have some very obvious signs of wear and age, the covers are worn at edges and marked, internally four of the plates have suffered from noticeable damp marking to the lower left corners resulting in damage and loss to the paper leaving the corners in a brittle state, this does not affect the printed areas, also noticeable edge wear with some short edge tears, marking and darkening, one plate pictured has some burn marks to rear to top edge, which is only just noticeable along the top edge of the printed side all the pages are pictured so content and condition can be seen please study the pictures carefully as they also form part of the description. SHOWING SOME VERY OBVIOUS SIGNS OF WEAR AND AGE BUT REMAINS AN ACCEPTABLE EXAMPLE OF THIS EXTREMELY SCARCE WORK RARE IN ANY CONDITION.

Spectacular miniature Almanac from the year 1830 providing all sorts of useful information such as: common notes for 1830; a 12-month calendar; a table of Kings and Queens' reigns; a table of Lord Mayors and Sheriffs from the year 1809 to the year 1830; a list of holidays; a table of the current coins; and a list of eclipses for 1830. Almanacs were very popular and often given as presents in varying forms to suit every pocket. Our copy contains a gift inscription on free front endpaper for Maria Sotheby "a gift from her dear mamma, 4th June 1841." Frontispiece starting, but still attached. Tail of spine slightly chipped. Slipcase in overall very good, binding and interior in good+ to very good condition.

Title on two. , Plate book showing views of several planned improvements of River Thames suggested by Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Frederick Trench. Thomas Baynes (1794-1876) was a London born English artist known for his drawings and watercolours of landscapes, buildings and outdoor events. Many of his subjects were engraved and published, generally in London, and these include a notable panorama of the River Thames, which was drawn from nature and engraved on stone. He was the son of James Baynes, a noted watercolour artist. , Size : Oblong folio (280x685mm)., P. Title Page, Blank, Prospectus (1-2), (1-10).
