Thomas Röske verortet den »Tanz zwischen den Frauen« im Gesamtwerk des Künstlers und erklärt die Besonderheiten des Gemäldes vom künstlerischen Entwicklungsstand und aus der biographischen Situation Kirchners heraus im Jahre 1915.
