Walker, both published by Aird and Coghill in 1916.In the publisher's original paper boards, with Poems and Songs being also in quarter-cloth. Poems and Songs contains an illustration of the poet on the rear of the title leaf.Written in the middle of the First World War, when allied war exhaustion was at its lowest, Walker expresses a willingness not to concede peace to the German forces through poetic response.Replies to Pro-German American Peacemonger and Other War Songs and Poems, contains both criticisms of the war and Walker's replies, with Address to the Nation, and The Belligerents by fellow poet Edward W. Evans.Poems and Songs, contains the poet's dedicated addresses to various friends, as well as poems celebrating Scotland. The second half of the anthology contains Walker's Replies to Pro-German American Peace Monger In the publisher's original paper boards, with Poems and Songs being in quarter-cloth. Externally, mostly smart. Slight signs of shelf wear, with chipping to the extremities of Replies. Marking to Poems and Songs, with a couple of small heavy marks and slight spotting to bottom right corner of front board. Slight lift to front board from spine of Replies. Fading to the extremities of the back board of Replies. End papers are bright and clean. Internally, generally firmly bound, with wear to hinge between leaves pp.8-9 of Poems and Songs, and very slight wear to hinge between leaves pp.18-19 of Replies. Pages are bright and clean, with the rare faint spot to leaf extremities of Poems and Songs. Good. book.
