First edition of a rare work on fencing, illustrated with 16 large plates. It includes a short history of fencing, as well as its rules and positions, with various exercises. The majority of the work focuses on fencing on foot, but the final chapter also discusses fencing on horseback. The clear and instructive plates in the back show the fencing positions in detail. The work was written by the Spanish fencing master Eudaldo Thomase (dates unknown), who is otherwise unknown, and was reprinted in 1999. The present first edition, however, is quite rare, as we have only been able to trace 6 copies in institutions.With the bookplate of Jack Gorlin mounted on the front pastedown, and the publisher's signature on the verso of the title page. The wrappers are somewhat stained around the edges and the spine.
