Report of the archeological surveys carried out in the seldom studied area of southwest Arabia, which also included female archeologists Freya Stark and Elinor Gardiner. Includes three folding plans and one folding table. In general the Saudi Arabian government has not been supportive of archeology in their country, particularly when it comes to the pre-Islamic period. This work is valuable for understanding the popular pagan religion of Mohammed's time that he preached against in the Koran. Introduction by Thompson discusses the political and cultural difficulties of the expedition. Binding with light wear along edges, some small chops and closed tears at joints of spine.
