Er befasste er sich insbesondere mit der Physiologie des Blutkreislaufs, Ernährung und Stoffwechsel und erfand einen Respirationsapparat zur Messung der Atemgase, den 'Tigerstedt-Sonden Respirationsapparat'. Zusammen mit seinem Studenten Per Bergman entdeckte er 1898 das Enzym 'Renin'; seine Lehrbücher wurden Standardwerke. Ebd. - Thor Stenbeck (1864 - 1914) war ein schwedischer Strahlentherapeut und Pionier der schedischen Radiologie. Er führte 1899 die weltweit erste erfolgreiche Strahlentherapie eines Hautkrebses durch. 1896 eröffnete er Skandinaviens erste…s Röntgeninstitut in Stockholm. Im gleichen Jahr konnte er mit Hilfe seiner Röntgenaufnahmen eine Revolverkugel im Hirn eines Schussverletzten lokalisieren, so daß diese entfernt werden konnte. 1899 glückte ihm die Behandlung einer Frau mit Hautkrebs auf der Nase, die Patientin wurde während 9 Monaten 99 Mal bestrahlt und war 30 Jahre später immer noch symptomfrei.
