A young Cornish boy goes to sea and is captured by Barbary pirates, the Sallee Rovers. Atmospheric illustrations by William Stobbs. Page edges and endpapers slightly tanned otherwise in very good condition with no inscriptions. The dust jacket is price-clipped with loss top left front and top of spine.

pictorial hard cover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Compilation of children?s stories, games and puzzles, probably 1920?s or 1930?s. Front cover shows a boy and a girl on donkeys at a beach. Illustrated with several colour plates and numerous black and white drawings. 220 pages G. Shelf wear and edge wear to covers with splits at top of spine where cloth spine meets boards. Some foxing and browning to paper, overall good condition.

Cover illustration shows boy in busby and uniform, girl with wings. Pictorial hard boards are edgeworn and rubbed with bumped extremities; spine faded and split along 80% of front hinge which is loose; some rubbing to back board. Pp 180; colour frontis. plate and 8 others; 6 plates are still bound in and in fine condition; two are loose [one with considerable edgewear but all outside the frame]; also many b/w illustrations in black and tint and drawings in the text; previous owner's name etc in pencil on blank endpaper; title page loose but in good order. Although the book appears at first sight to be shabby, all contents are clean with good illustration and a little restoration work would do wonders to this scarce publication.
