Condition: Very good plus. First Edition. First edition of the near-miniature story of PETER PIXIE, a fairy made from the laughter of children, and his efforts to cheer little Kitty. Number 1 in the GRANT RICHARDS'S NURSERY LIBRARY series: another themed group of books for children printed in small format, after the success of Richards's DUMPY BOOKS series. 4.5'' x 3.5''. Original pictorial publisher's cloth binding. All edges stained blue. Pictorial endpapers of toys (cw: including golliwog). Full-page color frontispiece with three full-page color plates and black-and-white illustrations throughout. 166 pages. Owner's name in ink to front endpapers, dated 1910. Light rubbing and mild soil to boards, faint spotting to spine. Occasional soil to margins. Plates bright.
