Wilhelm Tigges (1830-1914) studierte in Bonn und Berlin wo er 1853 zum Dr. med. wurde, praktizierte als Arzt in seinem Geburtsort Gelsenkrichen von 1854-59, war Assistentarzt an der Irrenheilanstalt in Halle 1859-61; hierauf 2. Arzt an der Provinzial-Irrenheilanstalt zu Marsberg Westfalen 1861-72, in gleicher Eigenschaft an der Irrenheilanstalt zu Stephansfeld im Elsass 1872-72, wurde dann dirig. Arzt der Irrenheilanstalt zu Sachsenberg bei Schwerin und Med.-Rath. 1880 eröffnete er die dortige Pflegeanstalt nach 50jähr. Wirksamkeit der Heilanstalt, legte später aus Gesundheitsgründen sein Amt nieder, und wurde zum grossherzogl. Geh.Med.Rath ernannt und wählte Düsseldorf als Aufenthalt. -cf. Hirsch V, p.682.
