Soft Cover. Condition: Near Fine. Text in English and German. 72 pp. Slight edge wear to covers. The names of SCHOTT and JENAer GLAS are intrinsically tied to the glassworks Otto Schott founded in 1884 in Jena, the founding site of the present-day SCHOTT AG based in Mainz. By developing heat and chemical resistant borosili cate glass, Otto Schott laid the founding stone for the rise of an industrial enterprise. To this day BURG GIEBICHENSTEIN in Halle/Saale, today University of Art and Design, founded as a modern. practice-oriented arts-and-crafts school in 1915 on the basis of the ideas of the "Deutscher Werkbund", is the art school richest in tradition of all colleges in Middle Germany, For more than 80 years, professors, students and graduates of the art school BURG had a major influence on the design of JENAer GLAS. Gerhard Marcks made his first drafts in 1925, In 1960 I|se Decho modernised the product line created by Wilhelm Wagenfeld in the 1930s. Until 2005 her successor, professor Hans Merz, and other graduates of the BURG introduced innovative ideas for new designs and created successful lines of tableware.
