The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original price-clipped dust wrapper. I…nk inscription and previous owner's stamp to the front free end paper. Gerald Poynton Mander was a Midland historian, antiquarian scholar, genealogist, author, editor and archaeologist. This is his history of Wolverhampton from its origins to the early nineteenth century, with chapters on Dr. Oliver, St. Peter's Collegiate Church and the Domesday Book. Illustrated throughout and edited by Norman W. Tildesley. A folding plan of Wolverhampton is pasted to the rear paste down. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for some offsetting to the half title page. Dust wrapper remains bright but is chipped to the head of the spine and to the lower extremities, with a couple of closed tears and small losses. Front flap is split along the fold in three places.
