Trade Paperback. Condition: Very Good +. Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket As Issued. First Paperback Printing. This 162-page, 7 1/4" X 9 5/8", paperback offering in VG+ condition is Blenheim: Landscape for a Palace, Edited by James Bond and Kate Tiller, and published by Alan Sutton and Oxford University Department for External Studies in 1987. Not an ex-library copy, I am quite sure that this book, possessing front and back covers of quite thick stock type of paper, is a First Paperback Edition. For age 24, it is still in quite remarkable shape, with the previous owner's name and college printed in upper right corner of main Title Page, and is inscribed and SIGNED(for said previous owner) in the upper left corner of reverse side of front cover by its principal Editor, James Bond. From one Dorothy Stroud's Introduction, "The Articles contained in this volume are based upon papers delivered at a symposium arranged by the Oxford University Dept. for External Affairs and held at Blenheim Palace in May 21, 1983. 1983 was the bicentenary of the death of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, the central figure in the history of British landscape gardening. Blenheim [Park] is surely the most outstanding of all Brown's work. .The tribute which these proceedings [and this resulting volume] pay to Brown as the creator of so many landscape gardens and not a few houses is long overdue". Fairly saturated with dozens and dozens of black and white photographs to bring into focus the area of unquestionable natural beauty and charm that is the subject of this book, this book brings together such papers/presentations offered at the May, 1983, symposium as "Blenheim: The Geographical Setting"(James Bond), " 'Capability' Brown at Blenheim"(Hal Moggridge), "Blenheim: Present Management and Future Restoration"(Ralph Cobham and Paul Hutton), and "Some Aspects of the Natural History of Blenheim Park"(John Campbell), along with seven others. A fascinating homage to the timeless beauty that many areas of English countryside possess and display, for the enjoyment of all who experience/observe same. Thanks very much! Signed by Author(s).
